With winter around the corner, everyone counts on their boilers to keep them warm and cosy. To make sure your boiler does not let you down, it is very important to keep them in the best condition.
So, what can you do to make sure your boiler does not let you down? Castle Heating Kent has put together this blog to help make sure your boiler is ready for the winter!
How do I check whether my boiler is ready for the winter?
Check your boiler pressure
The ideal pressure on your boiler should be 1 and 1.5 bar. If the pressure is below this, you can repressurise this by looking through the manufacturer's installation guide and following the steps outlined there. If the pressure is higher than 1.5 bar, then you will need to bleed your central heating system. Please make sure you hire a Gas Safe registered engineer to carry this out safely for you.
Protect your pipes
A common cause for boilers breaking down during the winter is a frozen condensate pipe, which could be costly for you. This is something that could easily be prevented by simply installing insulation on your condensate pipes. Bleed your radiators
If there is trapped air present inside your radiators, it could prevent how efficiently they heat up. Bleeding your radiators will release the trapped air, making sure your home is heating up effectively and efficiently!
Service your boiler
Servicing your boiler is the best way to ensure your boiler is ready for the winter. Not only will the heating engineers look for the above, but they will also thoroughly test and inspect your central heating system.
